Sherlock Holmes Set for PS4 with ‘The Devil’s Daughter’
With the industry spotlight firmly on imminent releases such as Uncharted, No Man’s Sky and Doom, Frogwares have been quietly working behind the scenes on Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter. The 8th game in their series following London’s most iconic detective, this is undoubtedly the most ambitious to date.
Having heard nothing for months, fans were given a May release date and trailer in one fell swoop this week. So far, gameplay has only been demonstrated behind closed doors for select members of the press but we can confirm several details.
Firstly, the game will be more open-ended than its predecessors – mistakes and wrong deductions at one juncture will impact heavily on the story later, while the game-world itself is much larger and more complex than we have seen previously. The trailer also hints at a theme far darker than those of 2012’s The Testament of Sherlock Holmes or 2014’s Crimes and Punishment, with Holmes coming up against evil spirits in what’s a significant shake-up for the series.
It’s all very mysterious at the moment but it is Sherlock Holmes, after all. Would you really have it any other way?
27/05/2016 – the plot thickens.
