PS5 NEWS: Introducing the DualSense Wireless Controller.
After global gaming events had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was unclear on when and where we would be receiving updates on the highly anticipated release of the PS5. However, a post on the official social media accounts of PlayStation, brought news that playstation fans had been waiting for, the first look at the new controller design for the next gen console, the PS5.
The new controller design, named DualSense Wireless Controller, has a futuristic look to it. According to the official PlayStation website, the design of this controller, has been based on discussions with Game developers in the aim to achieve an immersive gaming experience through a variety of powerful sensations.
Features of the DualSense Wireless Controller include haptic feedback, which the official PlayStation website describes as “sensations you’ll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud. We also incorporated adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons of DualSense so you can truly feel the tension of your actions, like when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow.” This all in the aim to take you closer to the gaming action than ever before, using immersive features other than sound reaches out to the other senses.
The design team have been able to “make the controller feel smaller than it is” by cleverly adapting the angle of the hand triggers and subtle changes to the grips. This allows the new features to be included into the DualSense Controller without feeling bulky and weighted.
Possibly the biggest addition to the controller is the introduction of the built-in Mic. allowing you to speak directly through the controller to your friends, however, the advice on the official PlayStation website is that for longer gaming sessions it may be better to use a gaming headset.
The overall look of the controller strays away from the norm, with the original colour normally including just the one colour, as you can see the DualSense controller includes a combination of white and black, whilst the colour bar has also changed position to “give it an extra pop.”
This is the first look at the new console concept and there will be many more news stories coming from the PlayStation camp in the months ahead. What do you think of the first look at the DualSense Wireless Controller? Does this make you look forward to the next gen console releasing?
