Could the PS5 be released sooner than 2020?

We have all been waiting tirelessly for some kind of update as to when the next-gen console; PS5 will be released! Unfortunately, there has not been any official announcements from Sony nor has there been any mention of the device at E3… However, there could be a potential leak – which has got us hyped.
And it could be SOONER than fans think!

What do the experts think?

Industry analysts have been predicting that the PS5 will be released either in 2019 or 2020 (at most) there are also substantial rumours that the PS5 dev kits have been sent out already to game makers ahead of the launch of the console.

What is the leak date and who is the leak?

The speculation over the release date of; 2019 came from Infinity Ward who posted a new job listing for a position working on Call of Duty 2019. The ad also specified that the title will be for “multiple next-gen platforms.”

Could this be because of the planned release of the PS5 and Xbox’s codename; ‘Scarlett’?

We do think this news holds substantial weight in the rumour mill. And to give you a more tangible release date – we believe this will align with Call of Duty’s yearly October and November release.

And if you want more information on the game itself – it has been suggested that it will include a campaign mode. Also, this time it will be Infinity Ward’s year to release the new Call of Duty as Sledgehammer Games released last year’s Call of Duty: WWII and Treyarch previously being responsible for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 release.

The functionality of the PS5

Andrew House (former Sony Chief) has been speaking out about the future of consoles and states that he does believe that physical discs will continue to stick around as downloadable titles may not be compatible with limited internet infrastructure.

We suspect that as the year goes on there will be far more rumours running around and we will continue to keep you updated with news about the PS5 – but feel free to share your thoughts and opinions with us on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
